Are you looking for new bookshelves solution? Do you want to offer your kids a fun way to organize their books? These types of invisible shelves are both aesthetic and functional. They appear floating, without anything securing them on the wall.

In fact, the bottom book is actually a shelf. This entire project can be done in a matter of hours, and your children will enjoy reading books.

Now if you know me, you know I’m obsessed with my kids. I was taking vegan dha while I was pregnant to help improve their brain health. Now I’m feeding them all sorts of healthy food, plus giving them some of that same vegan dha themselves. But while nutrition is important for brain health, books are even more important. So this bookshelf makes me really happy to build!

Before you start the construction, keep in mind the position of the shelf. Do not place it above the bed, as books may fall during the earthquake. So, here are the required steps for this action and the kids floating bookshelf is one of the best things you can do for their room.

Step 1

Set one 4″x4″ L-bracket on the wall, where you would like your bookshelf to be. Utilize the level to make sure it perfectly vertical and make a pencil mark in all holes. Keep in mind that this shelf is standard for 6”x9” books, if you require larger, then use a 6”x6” L-bracket instead.

Step 2

You should measure 4-1/2″ to the right of the two pencil marks and make two more marks. If you want everything to be even, use a ruler. This is the place where second L-bracket will go. Since you marked all the places for the holes, now you can use 1/4″ drill bit to drill holes for pencil marks.

Step 3

To secure everything in place, you should hammer the drywall anchors into the holes. On top of the anchors, you should position L-brackets and screw in flathead screws to secure the brackets. In this case, you shelve is done and now you can place books. Depending on the sturdiness of the walls, one floating shelf should uphold up to five books. You can place this type of shelves all over your kids’ bedroom; they sure won’t mind it.

Why should you consider a floating bookshelf?

Many parents often don’t have time to engage in DIY projects. They are overwhelmed with work and only have a couple of spare moments for their kids. But, clunky fixtures associated with shelving units take up a lot of space. However, floating shelves add a modern touch to your kids’ bedroom and make it more spacious. You can even paint them in various colors to point out other tones in their room. Considering they are quite versatile, you don’t have to use them only for boos. They are perfect for toys, frames, and other accessories.

The various dimension of L-brackets allows you to experiment with sizes. You are not only limited to one shape or size. After you complete the shelves, we are sure your children will fall in love with books again, and their room will look stunning than ever.
